VOLUNTEER

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR:

NectArena Committee
NectArena Beverage Booth
Women's Stage & Pre/Post Pride Events

Volunteer Benefits: In addition to having an opportunity to meet dozens of other community-minded individuals, volunteers enjoy a number of perks. These include the Post-Pride Appreciation Party where volunteers will have the chance to win a grand prize and to enjoy free food and entertainment, an opportunity to meet and socialize with the women’s stage performers on the day of the stage, meals, snacks and beverages provided during beverage booth operations, a Thank You gift from our stage sponsors and a NectArena tee-shirt.

Committee Members

This year is San Francisco Pride's 40th anniversary and we need your help to make sure the NectArena Women's Stage presents our most amazing stage yet. We are seeking team oriented, dedicated, reliable, self-motivated and communicative individuals interested in helping plan this year's event. No event production experience required, but is definitely helpful if you have some. Unfortunately your time is not monetarily compensated, as we are a small team of volunteers, but your effort and commitment to the women's community will forever be engrained in the San Francisco Pride celebration. If you are 100% supportive of the women's community, have a passion for production work, music, or entertainment, and are seeking to be involved in one of the most powerful experiences in the history of San Francisco Pride, then contact Edaj at edaj@nectarena.com

Requirements:

1) Able to commit to the stage production project for one year from September 2009 - September 2010.

2) Able to attend committee meetings regularly. Committee meetings are 1 - 1.5 hours weekly or every other week depending on the stage of the planning. Meetings may be held in Oakland or San Francisco depending on the committee members.

3) Able to be present and assist at the stage the day of the event in 2010 (typically the last Sunday of June).

Positions: Volunteer Coordinator, Events Coordinator, Stage Manager, Marketing and PR Coordinator, and Sponsor/Artist Liaison. The committee contributes to the planning of the overall stage production regardless of the position as the production is a group initiative led by the Executive Producer. There is no monetary compensation for any of the positions, but plenty of perks and benefits are available for your time and effort.

  • NectArena Beverage Booth 2010

Every year NectArena enrolls in the SF Pride Community Partner Program. The program exists to help raise money to support the SF Pride celebration. NectArena teams up with a local women focused non-profit organization and hosts a beverage booth at the festivities in exchange for partial proceeds from the booth. Hosting a booth 1) allows NectArena to raise money for the SF Pride celebration, the Women's stage and non-profit organizations, 2) allows the women's community, through NectArena, to be more connected with the non-profits that support the community the most, 3) helps build on NectArena's relationship with the SF Pride Celebration Committee and 4) helps provide more visability for the women's community through out the festivities.

    2010 Booth Information:

    1) Booth Date: TBD

    2) Booth Location: TBD

    3) Volunteers needed from 7am – 8pm (come out for a two or three hour shift, your choice). Duties to be performed (depending on the time of your shift) include assisting with booth set-up and breakdown (tables, chairs, cups, supplies, etc.), dispensing alcohol to patron, collecting payment, assisting with inventory breakdown for easy distribution, tracking and return to SF Pride and keeping the booth clean and tidy.

    4) Training Requirement: ABC Training is needed for those serving alcohol (or involved in the sale of alcohol). This needs to be in-date – anyone who did the training 3 yrs ago or more needs to do it again. SF Pride offers 2 - 3 ABC trainings for free. This information will be made available typically in May.

If you have taken the ABC training in the last 3 years, and have lost your RBS card (the white one), SF Pride may be able to replace it. Please provide Edaj with the year you took the training and SF Pride can search their database. If they cannot find this information, then you will have to retake the training.

Trainings are limited to a maximum of 200 people. They are done on a first-come-first-served basis. If you turn up late, or are after the 200 person cut-off, you will have to wait for the possibility of another training that night (time permitting), OR come back on another day. Cut off time is 10mins late.
